Study on Performance and Operation Mechanism of a Separation Equipment for a PWR Steam Generator

Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is adopted to calculate and analyze the performance separation mechanism of a steam-water equipment for pressurized water reactor (PWR) steam generator. The two-phase flow simulated by Euler two-fluid model, several representative droplet diameters are selected among 50 400 μm. influence diameter on investigated analyzing parameters such as phase volume fraction, velocity, turbulent kinetic energy. results show that integrated calculation analysis can more truly reflect state between separators, improving reliability prediction analysis. With increase in diameter, efficiency each separator gradually increases, outlet wetness decreases, pressure loss first decreases then stabilizes. When μm taken characteristic value actual distribution at inlet equipment, accurate, relatively close, primary less affected smaller than swirl-vane separator, which conducive achieving higher circulation ratio (CR). Re-entrainment occurs perforations secondary corresponding structure suggested be optimized further improve equipment.
